Trip Haenisch talks Camerich LA

Trip Haenisch needs no introduction. One of the most gifted interior designers, he has a new book called Personal Space  published by Rizzoli that just came out (you can order it here)! He was kind enough to answer a few questions for us, and share some images from the book that include pieces from Camerich LA! Above, a Los Angeles interior featuring the Camerich Lean Sofa and Camerich Era Tables.

Camerich LA: We love your aesthetic – it feels modern, classic, and organic all at once. How do you perfect that mix?

Trip Haenisch: I prefer a collected opposed to decorated look.  Beautiful pieces collected over time.

CLA: What do you like best about working with Camerich LA?

TH: They have beautiful lines, new items often, it’s well-priced, and great customer service.

CLA: We love the materials selections you choose – they are very textural and feel like they fit in perfectly with your aesthetic. How important is customization for your projects?

TH: It’s very important clients feel like their space is unique and personal. Interior architecture is critical for good design.  I love mixing textures with slicker surfaces…it creates visual tension.

CLA: Your lighting fixture choices are always bold, but retain the elegance of the overall space. We notice this especially (of course) with the Tom Dixon and Atelier Areti pieces you choose. Can you tell us a bit about why you respond to those collections?

TH: They are elegant in their simplicity.  The finishes are a nice quality. They also can be playful and fun.

CLA: Congrats on the book! It must have been difficult to select which projects to feature – how was that process?

TH: We went through it organically and that’s what we ended up with.  There were some projects that I’m really proud of that didn’t make it into the book, but God willing they’ll be another book some day!
